Betsy Beymer-Farris’s research focuses on sustainability science and political ecology in East Africa.  She has more than 20 years of interdisciplinary research experience in Tanzania focusing on plastic pollution and sustainability solutions, gender and human rights, blue economies and climate change, shrimp and seaweed aquaculture, and coastal and marine environmental resource governance and policy. Currently, Betsy is Director of the Environmental and Sustainability Studies Program and Assistant Professor in the Department of Geography at the University of Kentucky.
