Southeastern Ghana’s Volta Delta faces increasing threats from erosion, tidal flooding, and rising sea levels. The mangroves here are vital for protecting coastlines and supporting livelihoods through fuelwood, fisheries, and cultural identity. Yet these ecosystems are degrading due to overharvesting, weak law enforcement, and climate impacts. The MANCOGA project sought to address these issues through science, digital tools and community collaboration.
